The Pittsylvania County Courts serve as part of Virginia’s 22nd Judicial District. These courts consist of a Circuit Court, a General District Court & a Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court. These are all trial courts. Each Court has its own Judges and its own specific jurisdiction. The Pittsylvania judges preside over a variety of cases all unique to the jurisdiction of their particular court. The Pittsylvania Circuit Court is the trial court with the broadest powers and also hears cases appealed from the district courts. - All criminal and civil cases are set by the court’s administrative assistant, Ms. Crystal Richardson, and the dates are coordinated with the attorneys involved.
- Court convenes 8:30 a.m.
- Commissioners in Chancery are utilized in Decrees of Reference.
- Instructions must be submitted prior to trial.
- This office requires a self address envelope for the distribution of final orders.
